John 15:5
"I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing."

"As long as I abide in Christ, nothing can hurt me."
Martin Luther, 1535

How had Martin Luther received this revelation of truth? Obviously he had suffered great pain from the actions of others. Probably you have too. Who was hurt, betrayed, or rejected more than our Savior? Yet, He alone has the antidote to the heartache we suffer in this world. It is to "abide" in Him.

This has been my life pursuit, but sometimes the circumstances of life darken my world, and I lose sight of the Light of the World. I must get my eyes looking up into the face of the Truth, the Light, and the Way, until I am back in the arms that carry me, and heal my wounds. If only I could truly learn to stay there as Jesus commanded.

Let us point one another to the Vine of Life knowing we must stay engrafted to bear much fruit. We cannot do it in our own strength no matter how hard we try. For apart from Him, we can do nothing. Jesus said so.
In His love.
