“Though it tarries, wait for it…”

"For the vision is yet for the appointed time,it hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; but it will certainly come; it will not delay. Behold, as for the proud one his soul is not right within him, but the righteous will live by his faith." Habakkuk 2:3-4 Habakkuk loved God, and trusted God, but He was perplexed by lingering circumstances. It appeared God wasn’t listening to his cries. He was discouraged and confused, because He knew God intimately, He knew God did not look on wickedness with favor, but He wasn’t stopping it. Verses three and four are God’s responses to His child. What had God spoken to your heart through His Word, and yet it tarries as we begin another year? Read His Words slowly to Habakkuk. What He as spoken to you has an appointed time He has decided. He is perfect in all His ways! The promise hastens toward the goal; it will not fail. Be patient; wait for it. It will certainly be fulfilled. We must remain humbly submitted to the promises of God resting in His unfailing love for us. The righteous must cling to their faith, because His name is Faithful and True. (Revelation 19:11) There is a hope and a future for those who cling to their faith and the promises of God...

“…I have set before you life and death…”

Deuteronomy 30:19-20 "I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse, so choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants, by loving the Lord your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days, that you may live in the land which the Lord swore to your father’s. to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them." So choose life you and your descendants. It all comes down to moment by moment choices in everyday life whether we choose life or death for ourselves and our descendants. It is never more apparent to me than at Christmas time how true this is. As I observe my immediate and large, extended family I see the truth of God’s word. Our Father made His way simple. You have a free will. The canvas of our lives are woven from moment by moment choices. God has a design for each life that is accomplished by loving Him and His way more than our own.. If we love Him, we listen to and obey Him. He said hold fast to Him for this is your life and length of days. We seem to hold fast to everything but Him in this world....

A Christmas Card from the Father

The Prince of Peace came to earth again this Christmas. This time He came in the form of a live Christmas Card. He has sent eighteen inches of snow and covered my darkened world in beauty, purity, and peace. My eyes behold the work of the Master Artist. No one can come close to His brush strokes as I gaze upon the hills and trees dusted heavily in snow. No one can reveal the colors He exposes in His paintings. The white is a white like no other. He came and enveloped me in stillness. Then out of the...

“refresh my heart in Christ…”

"Philemon 20 "Yes, brother, let me benefit from you in the Lord, refresh my heart in Christ." I love this time of year as we celebrate the birth of God becoming man. We could not get up to Him, until His love came down to us in the form of a baby. Giving birth to four children makes me treasure the humble birth of May’s Son even more. I, like Mary, treasure these truths in my heart. I hold them dearest of all this time of year. Each year my heart eventually deeply grieves for God the Father and His Son, Jesus, as I observe there is still no room for Him in this world. The true meaning of the season is pushed to the back of all the celebration. Our families and friends are smothered in more stuff. Instead of giving our children the beautiful story of God’s love, and the wander of it all, Christmas morning we give them more stuff with great emphasis on Santa. Giving is very much the heart of God,’ but He gives what silver and gold cannot buy. As followers of Christ we have so much more to offer than more material possessions. Please don’t think I am trying to black ball gift giving and receiving, but sometimes I feel imprisoned as Paul by this world even inside the church of Jesus...

“We have come to know and believe…”

1 John 4:16 "We have come to know and believe the love which god has for us, God is love, and the one who abides in love, abides in God, and God abides in Him." Jesus said the most important commandment is to love God with your all, all your heart, all your mind, all your being. (Matthew 22:34-40) In the process of us who choose to do this, we come to know and believe the love God has for each one of us as John states here. These are the Christians who experience a deep, intimate, personal love life with the t Trinity. They don’t just quote scripture. They have a different countenance that only comes from abiding in His Presence. They spend more time fellowshipping alone with our Lord, than they do with each other in church activities. They are the ones who actually abide in His Presence more than one another’s. When I encounter these rare believers, they speak of what God has been speaking to their hearts through His Word while abiding. They aren’t quoting each other or discussing their activities, and how busy they have been. Their hearts overflow with a love and gratitude for the Love of their life. It isn’t a cold religious experience. They cannot keep inside of them the love that has been imparted to them from abiding in the...
