“I will pour out my Spirit on you…”

Proverbs 1:23 "Turn to My reproof. Behold, I will pour out My spirit on you; I will make My words known to you." I find the most effective way to pray is praying God’s Word back to Him. It assures me I am praying His will for me. Coming into His Presence and humbly declaring to Him, "I kneel before you for correction and instruction," is a great way to start our prayer. His ways are always higher than ours. (Isaiah 55:9) Then asking to be filled with the Holy Spirit to make the truth of His Word known to us, for guidance, and to enable our obedience to Him. "Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of hosts." Let us heed the wisdom of this one simple verse in the book of Proverbs. We begin by turning to His reproves, so that we might receive the promise of being filled with His Spirit and receive revelation of His Words. This is an offer we cannot refuse in order to find peace in a very turbulent world. In His love. Teresa Roberts Masterpiece Fitness 276-237-6680 This is the Master’s work! May we have eyes to see! “…those who wait for the Lord…”

Isaiah 40:29-31 "He gives strength to the weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable. Though youths grow tired and weary, and vigorous young men stumble badly, yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary." I saw this familiar passage of scripture exemplified in amazing ways yesterday at the Winter Splash Trail Run in Spruce Pines, NC at Springmaid Resort. It was 8+ miles of mud sliding, creek crossings, jumping across a ravine, two mountain ridges with steep ascents up and down, fallen trees to climb over and logs to jump. It consisted of all the ingredients that makes up ultimate trail running! The group of folks I took with me to experience the ecstasy of it all weren’t seasoned trail runners. In fact it was Kristen’s first trail run ever! They all had legitimate reasons not to be there, but they were. What my clients had in common was they all had waited upon the Lord for direction and confirmation through prayer to take this intimidating step of faith. They all struggled with doubts and fears. Are you really going to give new strength when I become weary and tired? Do you really understand my inadequacies? Will I really mount up with wings as...

“…a prayer to the God of my life.”

Psalm 42:8 "The Lord will command His loving kindness in the daytime; and His song will be with me in the night, a prayer to the God of my life." The God of my life has taught me the same truth He taught the Psalmist; dwelling in His Presence can become my place of habitation if I so choose. It is an open invitation to everyone! There are no favorites; He loves us all the same. What makes the difference is how much we choose to love Him. The children of Israel were given constant guidance under the covering of a cloud of His Presence by day, and He became their "night light" at night. The Psalmist is declaring he abides daily in the loving kindness of the God of His life, and He puts him to bed at night with His song as a mother tenderly lullabies her child. He ends the verse with these words: "A prayer to the God of my life." May I ask you this morning who is the God of your life, and to whom or to what are you making your habitation by day, and to whom or what do you seek comfort during the night? Who or what is the God of your life? The world offers many counterfeits, and the father of lies sends many deceiving temptations that appear as...

“…Your consolations delight my soul.”

Psalm 94:19 "When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your consolations delight my soul." Anxiety disorder is very commonly diagnosed in our society and often treated with bi-polar drugs. Often times folks reaction to the drugs are worse than their symptoms even becoming suicidal. I think we all experience anxious thoughts or anxiety in our daily lives. The arctic winter we are experiencing definitely caused anxiety when I received my gas bill as I am sure it did for many. After my initial shock and melt down , I got myself quieted in His Presence. I poured out my anxieties to Him. As I magnified my awareness of Almighty God, the Creator of all things, My Father, I begin to get my circumstances in true perspective. The holy Spirit began to bring to remembrance His constant faithfulness and provision throughout my entire life. Then I opened His Word and began to read the Psalms. His consolations began to delight my soul. My anxious thoughts were gently washed away, and I began to fill with a peace that passes all understanding. More importantly I was saturated in a perfect love that cast away all my fears. I went to bed not knowing how, but knowing Who was going to provide the answers. " Be anxious for nothing , but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests...

“Though it tarries, wait for it…”

"For the vision is yet for the appointed time,it hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; but it will certainly come; it will not delay. Behold, as for the proud one his soul is not right within him, but the righteous will live by his faith." Habakkuk 2:3-4 Habakkuk loved God, and trusted God, but He was perplexed by lingering circumstances. It appeared God wasn’t listening to his cries. He was discouraged and confused, because He knew God intimately, He knew God did not look on wickedness with favor, but He wasn’t stopping it. Verses three and four are God’s responses to His child. What had God spoken to your heart through His Word, and yet it tarries as we begin another year? Read His Words slowly to Habakkuk. What He as spoken to you has an appointed time He has decided. He is perfect in all His ways! The promise hastens toward the goal; it will not fail. Be patient; wait for it. It will certainly be fulfilled. We must remain humbly submitted to the promises of God resting in His unfailing love for us. The righteous must cling to their faith, because His name is Faithful and True. (Revelation 19:11) There is a hope and a future for those who cling to their faith and the promises of God...
