1 Peter 4:8
"And above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins."
I know the greatest force or power in existence is the love of God, agape love. It is an unconditional love that knows no bounds. There is no way to extend what you have never received or experienced. We love because He first loved us. We forgive because we were forgiven. There was only one who was perfect, and that was Jesus. That means we all need a lot of love and forgiveness if we are to heed Peter’s wise instruction, "above all else we must keep fervent in our love for one another." It is the only power that can enable us to forgive ours and others multitude of sins and imperfections. The only source is from God Himself who is love. We cannot produce this love no matter how much we try. Peter prefaced this instruction by declaring the end of all things is near. Let us be sobered by God’s Word this morning. The key is obedience.
