Ephesians 6:2-3
Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise so it may be well with you, and you will live long on the earth.
Not only is this one of the Ten Commandments, but it was the first commandment with a promise from God. Children should be taught this at a young age. What example are we living out before our children by how we are treating our own parents? This is not a commandment to be taken lightly. That is clear throughout scripture. Yet in today’s society we see the opposite being done especially with aging parents when they need their children the most. May we examine our lives in whatever season we are in, and honor our fathers and mothers so that we might honor God and receive HIs promise.
