2 Chronicles 7:13-14
"If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, and My people humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
I believe judgement has began on what was one of the greatest nation’s on earth. It breaks my heart to use past tense. We have forgotten our foundation as a nation and why we were great. One nation under God we are great; one nation without Him we are nothing. We were founded on the laws and principles of the Bible and the one true God. We have failed to teach from one generation to another the truth of our history. It happens one person at a time before it can happen as a nation. God sends judgement out of mercy and love, for it is not His will that any should perish. Hear His heart in these revealing verses. It is a plea for repentance so He can forgive, cleanse, and restore a nation. I believe on this National Day of Prayer He is pleading with our nation, America, to do the same. It begins with humility and personal repentance, and then as a nation. Oh that we might return to our beginning. This is a plea to those who are His. If you belong to Him, hear His heart cry today and respond by humbling yourself before a merciful God who longs to hear you and forgive you, and let us be restored as a nation. If we harden our hearts we know there will be judgement as it has been throughout history. Let us choose wisely as individuals who make up America, one nation under God.
