2 Corinthians 7:9-10
"I now rejoice, not that you were made sorrowful, but that you were made sorrowful to the point of repentance, for you were made sorrowful according to the will of God, so that you might not suffer loss in anything through us. For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces repentance without regret leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death."

Repentance is a very necessary and positive procedure for followers of Christ. The flesh wars against the spirit. It is not something we do occasionally, but it is a way of life. It is how we live a life with less regret as the scriptures tell us. What distinguishes godly sorrow from worldly sorrow? Repentance! We all create sorrow in our own lives as well as others by wrong choices and actions. It hopefully produces regret and sorrow as it creates loss and death of relationships. Allow this sorrow to lead to godly sorrow that leads us to repentance before our God whose heart is broken for us. Allow Him to forgive and restore you back to Him healed and cleansed of all unrighteousness. Then He will enable you to repent to whomever you have offended, or to extend forgiveness with whomever you have refused to do so. It is His kindness that leads us to extend that same love and kindness to others. After spending the time necessary in His Presence, let us follow His example.
In His love.
