Revelations 2:4-5
But I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first, or else I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its place — unless you repent.

The start of a race does not determine the finish. How often I have witnessed incredible starts with terrible finishes. Same thing in marriages. This is what the Holy Spirit is addressing in these verses. The honeymoon is over, and the Ephesus church diverted away from Jesus. They have left their first love. He instructs them to remember from where they have fallen, and to do as they did at the beginning of the relationship. Repentance was necessary to make things right. He then warns them of the consequences if they refuse. Their lampstands will be removed. The Light will be removed. The result is walking in darkness. Let us examine our hearts to see who or what is our first love. Only Jesus deserves that place in our lives. If we keep that right we walk in the LIght, and we burn brightly for His glory. Repentance is a necessary part of following Christ. Therefore, let us be zealous to repent.
In His love.
