"But so the world may know that I love the Father, I do exactly as the Father commanded Me. Get up, let us go from here."
John 14:31

I love John chapters 14-17, because Jesus is doing most of the talking. He came to set us free from the letter of the law and religion. He came to reveal to us how much He loved His Father! Jesus tells His disciples and us, I do exactly as my Father commands to reveal my love for Him even dying on a cross to become our Savior. God so loved us that He gave His Son, but Jesus gave Himself to reveal love and obedience is synonymous. You cannot divorce one from the other.

Jesus tells us in John 14:15,

"If you love Me, you will keep my commandments."

The difference in religion and "true" Christianity is we obey out of love. That is why His commandments are not burdensome. When we truly love someone our greatest joy is pleasing them.

You cannot experience love without developing a relationship of receiving and giving. I first had to receive from my Father to experience His Son and His Holy Spirit. I encountered love I had never known. As a result I began to obey His ways, because I was and am madly in love with the Trinity. My love and desire to please Him causes me to try to love others as He loves me which is His command. He said we would be known by our love of one another.

During this season of giving, let us seek to give the ultimate gift that cannot be bought with silver or gold, but is freely given from only One source, Almighty God, the everlasting Father!

When rearing my own children I clung to the commands of my Father knowing His love and ways were perfect. I let them see I was not, and they had to look to Him for perfection. It is now my constant prayer for them and my precious grandchildren.
