John 17:26
"And I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them."

John 17 is one of my favorite chapters in the Bible. When I was a young mother with four children six and under, the Lord led me to this chapter to show me a perfect example of motherhood. I gleaned so much wisdom and understanding as I observed the mothering heart of Jesus for His disciples. I understood my children were my disciples. My goal became and still is verses seven and eight.

Jesus is getting ready to leave His children He is preparing to die for. He proclaims to his Father,

"Everything You have given to me, I have given to them. The words You gave Me I have given to them."

They learned the love of our Heavenly Father through His Son. It is a simple but profound truth tucked in verse 26. You must experience the perfect love of God intimately and personal. This is not a one time experience. It must be daily. It is our greatest need in life. Look closely at what Jesus is saying to His Father.

" The love You have given Me I have given them. Now Your love is in them and I am in them."

This, my friend, is the perfect formula for any relationship! This truly creates a marriage made in heaven. It creates total unity in a family. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. The answers in life can only be found in Him. His request to receive is:

"Let Me love you, so you can effectively love others."

In His love.

The greatest joy in my life, apart from being in God’s Presence, is being in the presence of my children. Yesterday was spent hiking Stone Mountain in Roaring Gap, North Carolina with my son, Stephen and daughter, Katelyn. So thankful for these moments God gifts me with!
