Psalm 51:16-17
"For you do not delight in sacrifice, otherwise I would give it; You are not pleased with burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise."

David was declared a man after God’s own heart. (1 Samuel 13:14) Perhaps Psalm 51 tells us why. David understood pleasing and loving God is a heart issue. Sacrifices and burnt offerings often please man because they are external acts. You can perform these acts and have a heart far from God. However you cannot truly have a broken spirit and contrite heart apart from God. David failed miserably in sin, but ultimately His heart belonged to God. Perfect performance is not what pleases God, but to be truly broken over our failures out of a heart of love for Him does. Set your heart on loving Him through obedience, not sacrifice. True sacrificing for Him will come out of knowing His love, compassion, mercy, grace, and forgiveness. It is all about an internal heart to heart relationship; then we too can be known as children after His own heart.
In His love.

Even though I awoke to a beautiful snow, in a matter of hours I was once again enjoying our beautiful fall going down Lambsburg Mountain heading to Winston-Salem.
