"For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; and the government will rest on his shoulders, and his name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6

A son was born, the Son of God. He was given to us! Jesus Christ was a gift to all mankind from Almighty God of heaven and earth. The Word of God says the government will rest on His shoulders. The Hebrew word shakem translated "shoulder" in Isaiah 9, means the neck area where burdens are placed. This is a divine truth in the Word of God. A divine government is born by and rests upon the foundation or shoulder of Christ, rather than upon the personalities of human beings. These words affirm Christ’s deity.

If you study the true history of our nation you will find our laws came from God’s laws. Our founding fathers were not perfect saints, but they were men who prayed and sought wisdom and guidance from above when the Constitution was written, and the Bill of Rights along with the Declaration of Independence. I would encourage you to read and study these documents and share them with your children and grandchildren. Our present president understands this and believes in America — one nation under God. He also realizes his need for a Counselor greater than himself.

During this time of year as we celebrate the birth of the Son of God let us be reminded of the unchangeable truth in the Words of Isaiah. Our focus must be on something greater than ourselves. He alone is wonderful in every way — always. He is to be our ultimate Counselor in everyday life and in our government. When we reject His wisdom and counsel we become fools headed for destruction. It has played out in the history of the world over and over. You would think we would learn at some point we are not gods. There is only one God, and all things were created by Him. He knows more than Google!

Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. He is Almighty God. There is no other. Do you need a father during this season? You have One. You are promised by One who cannot lie He will be your Father for eternity. He will never leave or forsake you. Are we not all in desperate need of peace as individuals and as a nation? Jesus, our Savior promises peace to us the world cannot give.

"Peace I leave with you, My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. " John 14:27

Let us as families and as a nation get our focus back on the Wonder of the baby in the manger when God became man in order to reconcile His rebellious children back to Himself through Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection. It is the eternal hope of a lost and dying world. He alone is the hope of all nations. Embracing the true meaning of Christmas will enable all of us to have a Merry Christmas no matter the circumstances we find ourselves surrounded in.

In His love.
