“…because it was not united by faith.”

Hebrews 4:2
"For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also; but the Word they heard did not profit them because it was not united by faith."

The Bible tells us without faith it is impossible to please God, but He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6) It also tells us faith comes through hearing the Word of God. (Romans 10:17) Why is it we see some profit spiritually and others who attend the same church and hear the same messages profit none or has no affect? Because they do not truly hear, and are not earnestly seeking truth. His Word is not united by faith in their hearts. How are you handling the Words of God? 2 Timothy 2:15 tells us to accurately or rightly handle His Word. His Word is living, holy and true. It is sharper than a two edged sword rightly dividing truth and error; it pierces dividing soul and spirit, and is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. ( Hebrews 4:12) Let us reverence His Word in our hearts, and unite it with faith as we hear, that we might begin to profit not only ourselves but others.
