2 Chronicles 34:27
"Because your heart was tender and you humbled yourself before God when you heard His words against this place, and it’s inhabitants, and because you humbled yourself before Me, tore your clothes and wept before Me, I truly have heard you," declares the Lord.
Humility is a character quality we don’t see emphasized in our society, but the Lord emphasizes it in His Word. A tender heart and humility comes before true repentance. Because of this king’s response to hearing the Word of God chapter 34 ends by telling us, "Throughout his lifetime they did not turn from following the Lord God of their fathers." What an impact and heritage to leave behind! What can God do with us if our heart remains tender to Him, and we humble ourselves in His Presence with repentance? May we all find out!
In His love.
