Galatians 5:16-17
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; For those are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things you please.

Any mother knows she does not have to teach her child selfishness; it comes quite naturally. One of the first words they speak is mine!
What I did have to teach my children is the truth of God’s Word. Many times when they would feel condemned because of lying, not wanting to share with others, always wanting the front seat instead of taking turns etc., I would comfort them with this truth. We cannot be good on our own. The Bible tells us in the flesh dwells no good thing. (Roman 7:18) We cannot follow Christ, being led by His Spirit, and please ourselves with what comes natural to us.
Watch small children playing. If we do not teach our children to consider others with respect, you may watch them as adults biting and devouring one another as we see prevalent today in our society.

We are as sheep in desperate need of a Shepherd. Our Shepherd now is the Holy Spirit who desires to lead us to a heavenly life here and now, and in eternity. Follow His ways opposed to just living and pleasing yourself. You will find peace, contentment, and fulfillment you will find no other way.
In His love.

Aren’t the flowers lovely? I could not resist coming to an abrupt stop to enjoy this sight heading north on Interstate 77 above exit 93. Breathtaking!
