"For the Word of God is living and active and sharper than a two edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart." Hebrews 4:12

This is one of my favorite verses in the Bible, because it is a constant reminder to me of the greatness and infinite power of the Word of God. It declares the Bible to be alive and active. It is unlike any other book in existence. Even though it is in the form of a book this book comes alive to those who seek it with all their heart through the power of the Holy Spirit. God will reveal to all the hidden mysteries of Himself with the condition of seeking Him with all your heart. Jeremiiah 29:13.

Hebrews 4:12 tells us the Word of God is like a two edged sword, piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, joints and marrow and can discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart. God already knows everything there is to know about us. Nothing is ever hidden from Him at any time in our lives. However, the only way we will ever know the truth about ourselves is through the Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit who promises to lead us into all truth. John 16:13 With the incisiveness of a surgeon’s knife it reveals who we are and who we are not. It penetrates to the core of our spiritual lives with truth. And with truth we are promised to be freed from strongholds of sin and generational curses. It is the only source of power that can free mankind from himself.

The Word of God is the most powerful weapon we have to battle demonic forces according to Ephesians 6. We are told to gird your loins with truth. That is not possible without God’s Word. We are told in 6:17 the sword of the spirit is the Word of God. A warrior in battle without a sword is a dead warrior! The Word of God is our survival weapon.

May I compel you to read the Word of God and allow it to consume your time and thoughts more than social media, and so called news networks and newspapers that have no regard for truth — only their agendas. If you take the time to read Hebrews 4, and put our verse in context you will find the writer is referring to a rest for the people of God. If you will come into agreement with what you read, and obey it, you will find rest for your weary soul and spirit. Another reason for not finding rest is revealed in Hebrews 4:2-3:

For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also; but the Word they heard did not profit them, because it was not united by faith in those who heard. For we who have believed enter that rest…"

To enter the rest we must acquire a knowledge of the Word of God and come into agreement with what He says. We then unite it with faith and obey it. That Is a simple equation that equals rest on all sides!

"Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
In His love.

This past Christmas I gave this beautiful sculpture of the Word of God to all my children to be placed in their homes as a constant reminder of the importance of the Word of God in their lives. I charged my sons, and son-in-law as head of their homes to make sure they spend time with their wives and children daily reading it and praying. It comforted me to know when I am not here to remind them the sculpture hopefully will be.
