Hebrews 10:36
"For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised."

Anyone who runs races know the need for endurance. You must learn how to endure pain, and how to persevere through exhaustion, and extreme heat and cold. When you fall down you know to get up, and keep going in order to finish the race and win the prize. The prize most often is a deep satisfaction of accomplishment, knowing that you gave all you had to achieve your goal. It being costly, but worth it. Nothing worth having comes easy.
How much more this is true in the eternal race of life. You are signed up if you are breathing. It is not optional. We are all eternal beings, and how you choose to run the course of life determines your eternal destination and reward. This verse in Hebrews defines my goal: To persevere and endure doing the will of God for my life till the finish line. Then I will receive the reward of His promises. Let us not be so distracted by the temporal races in life that we lose sight of our eternal race we are all in. Not our will, but His be done.
In His love.

Photos from Springmaid Splash, a great trail run in Spruce Pines, NC. Endurance and fun with friends yesterday as we ran through a river multiple times and up and down mountain ridges. How thankful we were for health, endurance, friendship, and the goodness of God.
