John 5:24
"I tell you the truth, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life."
When reading the words of Jesus this morning I was struck once again with how simple the truth of the gospel is. Jesus always spoke truth then and will always. Truth and Jesus are synonymous. We must read for ourselves the words of Jesus to know the truth. I have learned the way, the truth, and gained life by reading His words for myself. Going to church and hearing a sermon is not the same thing. How much more effective church would be if this was encouraged more, and we actually obeyed Jesus’ instructions.
Then we have been given a free will to believe or not. We must accept all God the Father sent His Son to do on the cross to reconcile us back to Himself. Through belief and faith in His Words we receive eternal life, and will not be condemned no matter what we have done in our past when we allow ourselves to be cleansed through the blood of Jesus. Once we do this we have crossed over the abyss of sin and death never to be separated from His surpassing love again.
Romans 8:38-39
"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, no powers, not things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
We can never be alone again. He never leaves us or forsakes us as He promises multiple times in His Word, but we can leave and forsake Him. We always have a free will.
Have you crossed over from life to death this morning as Jesus speaks of? First you must read His words prayerfully to know His love He demonstrated on the cross for you. Get alone with Him and His Word. Ask the Holy Spirit to be your teacher as He promises in His Word.
John 14:26
"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things I have said to you."
Again, this is Jesus’ words and His promise to us who believe. Seek Him and His Words of life and make an eternal decision to cross over from death to life, the most important decision any of us will ever make whether you believe it or not. Unbelief doesn’t negate truth.

Spending limited moments with my 92 year old mom who I am comforted with knowing she made the decision long ago to cross over from death to life through the blood of Jesus. I know we can only be separated temporarily from our eternal home together in heaven.
