"The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart."
Proverbs 18:21 tells us death and life are in the power of the tongue. 1 Peter 4:11 says whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God. How I long to fulfill these scriptures in my life, but fail on a daily basis.
We see in Luke 6:45 input is output. Whatever we fill our hearts with is what our mouth speaks to others. If we want to speak life, ultimately we must speak the Words of the Lifegiver. In order to do so, we must fill our minds with His thoughts rather than our own futile thoughts of the flesh, which leads to death and destruction. His ways and Words are heavenly, not earthly. They are so much higher than what we can produce.
Let us purpose in our hearts to choose a life led by His Spirit following His ways and spleaking His Words. Let us bring forth what is good as husbands and wives that we might have marriages made in heaven. As parents let us advise our chidren with His Words rather than our own as well as friends and neighbors. Truly the darkness of this world will be overcome by the Light of the world.
In His love.
His Light comes in many different forms. Beautiful lighting causing reflections more ways than one…while kayaking on the Dan River in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
