"Or do you think that I cannot appeal to My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels? How then will the Scriptures be fulfilled, which say that it must happen this way? Matthew 26:53-54

Every prophecy in the Bible has been perfectly fulfilled to the tee concerning the birth of Jesus and His death and resurrection. I will never understand why the Jews continue to reject their Messiah when it is their prophecies that He fulfilled. I encourage you to take time to read the accounts of the week of the passover leading up to the crucifixion and resurrection in the gospels. Don’t allow this most important day in our history of existence to be defined to you by religious activities and the Easter bunny and colored eggs. Read your Bible and read it to your children for what really took place at this time in history. Your eternal future and your children’s future depend on you knowing the truth that can only be found in God’s Word. We all have the responsibility to read and study it for ourselves and not allow a watered down version from the pulpit to take its place. If God the Father sent His Son to take your place on the cross don’t we owe it to Him to at least read the greatest expression of love ever exemplified by true sacrifice? Don’t rob your children of the example of what love is all about: sacrifice made for those we love.

Again in verse 54 Jesus says:

"How then will the Scriptures be fulfilled, which say that it must happen this way?"

Jesus knew His purpose when He came to earth. However, we do know He prayed three times in the Garden of Gethsemane that if possible for this cup to pass from Him, but not His will, but the Father’s be done. He knew what He was about to face. He had explained it all to the disciples in advance. He knew He would be betrayed by Judas. He knew He would be denied by Peter. He knew He would be totally alone in His darkest hour without any comfort or love. He was surrounded by a hostile crowd of His own, the Jews, that took great pleasure in beating and humiliating Him literally to death by way of the Roman solidiers. And the ones He had poured His life into had all forsaken Him. One of His own disciples had betrayed Him with a kiss! But what had to be the saddest moment of all is when Jesus cries out to the Father with a question: "Why have you forsaken Me?" At that moment He was truly alone on that cross as He took on my sin and yours and our children’s. Don’t you think we owe it to our children to teach them the truth about Easter, or better defined as Resurrection Day? More importantly don’t we owe it to our Father and His Son?

Yes, the prophecies were fulfilled just as the Bible said it would be, and I promise you the prophecies concerning His second return will be fulfilled just as He said it will be. Jesus told us when He came the first time it was not to judge or condemn the world, but to save it. However, during the second coming He is coming in all His glory, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. This time it will be to judge each one according to their works. If you have not accepted Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross for your sins you will spend eternity in hell. It is your choice. Each one of us was given a free will. Just like no one put Jesus on that cross for your sins; He chose it. No one can send you to hell but you; it is your choice. God made a way for you to spend eternity in heaven with Him, but there is only one way to get there:

Jesus said unto him, "I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man comes unto the Father, but by Me." John 14:6

May each father take responsibility for making this the most meaningful Easter ever by going to Scripture and revealing to our children the true meaning of love. It is the greatest love story that hasn’t been told to families desperate for true love that is lasting and always sufficient and will not leave them wanting. It also leaves us with a hope and a future not of this world, but a home that far exceeds our imagination. It is written:

"What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived"– the things God has prepared for those who love him–

In His love.

As I gazed upon the wondrous glory of God this week from home so aware of His Presence I wondered hopefully, will this be the day I see the Scriptures fulfilled of His second coming?!? I do know they will be fulfilled just as Scripture declares in His timing.
