Deuteronomy 30:19-20
"I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse, so choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants, by loving the Lord your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days, that you may live in the land which the Lord swore to your father’s. to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them."

So choose life you and your descendants. It all comes down to moment by moment choices in everyday life whether we choose life or death for ourselves and our descendants. It is never more apparent to me than at Christmas time how true this is. As I observe my immediate and large, extended family I see the truth of God’s word.

Our Father made His way simple. You have a free will. The canvas of our lives are woven from moment by moment choices. God has a design for each life that is accomplished by loving Him and His way more than our own.. If we love Him, we listen to and obey Him. He said hold fast to Him for this is your life and length of days.

We seem to hold fast to everything but Him in this world. Everything that matters derives out of relationship. First and foremost is experiencing the love of God. Our motive for listening and obeying is strictly for the love of God. We hold fast because we have come to know He is the "Lifegiver."

How differently the canvas of our lives will look at completion if we will get off the treadmill of life long enough to see where we are going, and heed His instruction. This time of year His people are among the busiest most stressed of all, and for what? Most often it has nothing to do with the truth of Christmas. Maybe it is time we ask ourselves what is life really all about now and year round? The answers are woven in the Word who became flesh. May those priceless threads of Truth come forth on your family’s Christmas Canvas this year as never before. it isn’t too late!
In His love.
