And He said, "If you will give earnest heed to the Lord your God, and to what is right in His sight, and give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statues, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I the Lord am your Healer." Exodus 15:26

As I read my Bible, the greatest history book ever written, I see over and over God caring for His rebellious children. As we look into the 15th chapter of Exodus, God has delivered them from the oppression of the Egyptians and brought them to their holy habitation and planted them on the mountain of His inheritance. They have just crossed the Red Sea as God miraculously parted the sea, and gave them dry land to walk through. As the Egyptians pursued them they were destroyed in those same waters.

What follows is a time of celebration and then dissatisfaction for they had become quite thirsty, and when they found water it was bitter! Moses cries out to God and He meets their need, and then gives them the statute and regulations in our verse today. Then He tested them.

I believe America, our great nation, experienced much of the same trials and temptations as did Israel. History proves this to be true if you read William Bradford’s journal of the Plymouth Plantation. It consists of 42 years of incredible similarities of the difficulties of establishing a new nation under the One true God. The spiritual life of our nation began in Plymouth Massachusetts in 1620 with the landing of the Mayflower. These were imperfect people trying to follow the ways of a perfect God. You will see those leaders seek the same God as Abraham, Moses, and David.

There is nothing complicated about a successful society. Man left to Himself will destroy himself with sin. He must have the wisdom and guidance of something greater than self. If we live for ourselves we bite and devour one another. If we choose to obey God out of love for Him it produces love for our fellow man. He teaches us to live outside of ourselves and for others. His laws and ordinances are far superior to anything man can come up with. The founders who wrote the Constitution of the United States knew that. After fasting and praying our constitution was written for a Christian nation under the one true God. There is only one true God, and they knew it. Rejecting truth doesn’t change it, no matter how hard we try. We cannot modernize or improve God Almighty who created us. The creation is not greater than the Creator!

May we open our eyes and hearts to our desperate need for His love, wisdom, and ways. We are totally dependent on Him for our very existence as a nation and individually. Let us realize the truth as we approach this upcoming election. God’s people must take back this nation for the God it was founded upon. Our trust must be in Him rather than this world. How sad it is to see no difference in God’s children and the world as we deal with the trumped up covid virus. Have we so little faith in God, and so much in our own futile efforts? Do we belong to Him or the world? He tells us He is our Healer. Why is that so hard to believe? Blessed are those who put their trust in Him. Cursed are those who trust in man, who depends on the flesh for his strength. "Heal me and I shall be healed. Save me and I shall be saved. You are the God I praise." (Jeremiah 17:5,7,14)
It is your daily choice.
In His love.
