"They have forsaken Me, the Fountain of Living Waters, to hew for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
Jeremiah 2:13

Perhaps this morning we should pause in His Presence, and sincerely ask God to reveal to us ways we have forsaken Him, and built our own cisterns that doesn’t hold water. In Jeremiah 2:5 God ask,

"What injustice did your fathers find in Me, that they went far from Me and walked after emptiness and became empty?"

It broke my heart as I read these verses knowing how good and perfect our God is.

God’s people are to rely on Him. We have to allow God to be God in our lives. Yet, as I observe professing believers I see them live no differently from the world whether their needs are healing, financial, counseling, marital, etc. What cisterns have we dug for ourselves only to find them broken, holding no water?
The evil we have committed is forsaking our Heavenly Father who is the Fountain of Living Water that takes away our dire thirst eternally!

What injustice have we ever found in God? Only He is a righteous judge. He is all knowing and sovereign. We tend to go far from Him when we don’t get our way, arrogantly believing our way is higher than His. The result is emptiness, because our ways are self absorbed while His is sacrifice and giving which gives "life" to all.
Let us not forsake the God of Living Water, but forsake our broken cisterns we have created for ourselves that leave us empty and those around us.
In His love.

Yesterday marked my six week journey after the running accident. I celebrated by going to the New River Trail to attempt to my first run. I wanted this moment alone with only My Father. I ran the four miles I set out to do with a decent pace! The orthopedic doctor told me it would be six months before I could run again. Even though I appreciated his efforts, I am so thankful to have put all my trust in my faithful and true God who always puts me back together in His timing!
