And He said to them,

"Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest awhile."

(For there were many coming and going and they did not even have time to eat.) They went away in a boat to a secluded place by themselves. Mark 6:31-32

Being so busy you don’t even have time to eat is not a new way of life only in America. There are times more often than should be we let life run us instead of us running life. We see here in Mark this happened even with Jesus and His disciples. Jesus’ life was poured out daily to mankind while He walked this earth. Like those who followed Him we too must pour ourselves out daily for those around us. It is a gratifying life, but we do become weary and tired.

Perhaps you like me are weary and tired. Listen to the invitation He extends to you this morning through the scripture:

"Come away by yourself to a secluded place and rest awhile."

If you read scripture you will find this is not an isolated case. It was Jesus’ habit to go to a mountain top to be alone with the Father often times praying all night.
long. He knew His need to be refreshed and strengthened by the Father’s love. If Jesus was dependent on alone times with the Father how much more are we?

Acts 3:19-20 states:

"Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the Presence of the Lord."

May we heed the scriptures this morning and obey Jesus’ instruction. Let us find a secluded place with no distractions and focus on His Presence and rest awhile. Isaiah 30:12 tells us:

"In repentance and rest you will be saved, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you were not willing."

Let us be willing this morning and as often as He leads.
In His love.

On this day I took a boat to a secluded place on Dan River in Danbury, NC to be refreshed in His Presence, and oh how I was as I parked my kayak underneath this huge rock, which served as a movie screen, as I watched the Lord entertain me with a light show of dancing reflections from the water! It was an incredible moment of life He could never have given me unless I had taken my boat to a secluded place and allowed myself to be led by His Spirit. What a time of refreshment and rest as only He can give.
