Tooltip TextAnd He said to them,
"You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts, for that which is highly esteemed among men is detestable in the sight of God. Luke 16:15 "
One thing God has taught me no matter how strongly I believe I am right, it doesn’t mean I am. How desperately we need to be constantly saturating our minds and hearts in the Word of God to keep us from adopting this world’s value system, and seeking one another’s approval more than the approval of God. As I thought about this past week I realized how many times I tried to justify my actions in the sight of others. We can only view one another externally, but God sees inside of us into our hearts.
I am comforted with knowing the One whose opinion matters more to me than anyone else always knows the truth. I also know only He can lead me into truth about myself. He has taught me to want His truth more than justification or being right.
Jesus said what man highly esteems is detestable in God’s sight. Having the majority of others agreeing with me is futile when I do not have my Father’s approval, because one thing is for sure–HE IS ALWAYS RIGHT; HE IS GOD!
I encourage you this morning to ponder this realization in your heart. As we begin a new week let us set our sight on finding the truths we need in God’s Word to set us free from chains we cannot see rather than seeking justification for our actions from one another. One day we will all give account for every word spoken, but more importantly the motives behind all our words and actions. At that moment how valuable will other’s approval be?
God help us to live wisely as Your disciple.
In His love.
