“You, O Lord, will not withhold Your compassion from me; Your loving kindness and Your truth will continually preserve me. “
What beautiful content this verse reveals about our God. I am so thankful He is full of compassion for His ever wandering sheep. As a result we become the recipients of a compassionate heart also.
“Your loving kindness and Your truth will preserve me.”
This is not only true as individual citizens of the United States, but it is true for us as a nation. Our sacred constitution was written for people who knew how to govern themselves, because they were allowing the Creator God to govern their private lives through His truth and loving kindness. They followed His guidance which made America good.
Alexis de Tocqueville, a French diplomat, political scientist, and historian, in the 1850s came to America to try to understand what made this new nation great. He said not until he went into the churches and heard her pulpits flame with righteousness did he understand.
“America is great because she is good. If America ceases to be good, America will cease to be great.”
This is a foundational truth in order for our constitution and democracy to work. It was Written for a nation who understood this verse of scripture. Let us return to what was exemplified in our forefathers as one nation under God; not over God! It begins with individuals allowing His love and truth to govern their private lives. Let us begin today before we lose the Republic our constitutions gave us.
In His love.
