"All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17

As we ponder this Scripture we can see why the Word of God is our lifeline on a daily basis. As a disciple of Christ we should have a deep desire to be adequately equipped for every good work. When we love God with all our heart we cannot help but share Him. If we keep ourselves full of His Spirit and His Word it will spill out of us to others. We are not so much to teach Scripture, but to allow Scripture itself to teach us and others. It needs little help. I believe what is lacking most today in our discipling is the pure Word of God.

Nothing has more power in our lives than Scripture. The Bible is the most powerful book we can read. Hebrews 4:12 bears repeating:

"For the Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow, it judges the thought and motives of the heart."

When we allow ourselves to be filled with His Words, rather than our own, we have the power to truly impact other’s lives and see people set free from our enemy, satan. The devil is as real as God. When we choose to not believe this, it doesn’t change the truth. Let’s take a look at previous verses in 2 Timothy 24-26:

"The Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged, with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will."

When we as bond-servants of Christ get ourselves in alignment with His Word we are all able to teach with kindness, patiently correcting those who are in opposition that they might come to repentance. This opens the door for them to receive the knowledge of truth, which enables them to come to their senses. It also empowers them to escape from the snares the devil strives to lay in all our lives with deception and lies. We eventually are held captive to the sins we have succumbed to, to do his will rather than the will of God for our lives and others.

John 10:10 declares:

"The thief comes only to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that you might have life, and have it abundantly."

Jesus is the Lifegiver. He gives us life abundantly in every way as we are truly set free by living in the Light of the World. The devil represents lies, deception, bondage and slavery to your sins, darkness and destruction resulting in eternal death. We must have the truth to be set free and so must others. Let us purpose in our hearts to become disciples of pure Scripture, that is so conveniently available to us in this nation and is so easily taken for granted. Let us give the Words of God rather than our watered down versions of Scripture that we may see those who are slaves to their sin become free to live the will of God, and fulfill the purpose they were created for. Let him who steals, steal no more!
In His love.
