Matthew 10:29-31
"Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows."
Jesus comforted his fearful disciples by comparing their worth to the sparrows. Their value to man was two for one cent, yet the Father knew the life of each one. Then He tells us He knows the number of hairs on our heads, and we are more valuable than many sparrows letting us know He is intimately acquainted with each one of us.
Watching a couple of bluebirds build their nest is always a highlight of my spring. They are on my front porch just outside my bedroom window,so a lot of time is spent happily observing them. As a result I get emotionally involved in the affair. The eggs have hatched, and I feel like a grandmother! The teamwork they exhibit is astounding as they both fly in and out constantly feeding their chirping young. The Lord comforted me assuring He was watching over this precious little family as I was with these verses in Matthew. But He also gave me assurance of my value to Him in comparison to the birds.
What has you fearful today as the disciples were? Do you need to know He knows and cares? Drink in these Words of Jesus and know He truly does know and cares.
