"For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve."
1 Corinthians 15:3-5
This month we are going to celebrate the most phenomenal day in history, Resurrection Day of Christ! Sadly it is more often called Easter to our demise. Paul reveals the true meaning of Resurrection Day beautifully in these verses. He emphasizes that everything happened just as Isaiah had prophesied 700 years before the Son of God appeared in human flesh on earth, and it was fulfilled according to the scriptures. He declares to the church it is the first importance He received and delivered to them. Christ has died for our sins and He was buried, and raised again on the third day. We then are given historical facts that He was resurrected, and then appeared first to Cephas, better known as Peter, and then to the twelve disciples. That is just the beginning. Let’s read on in verses 6-11:
After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some, have fallen asleep, then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles; and last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared to me also."
This is an amazing account of all the people who saw the resurrected Lord, Jesus Christ. All other gods we are offered to take His place are dead. None of them live eternally. Their lives ceased, but not the One true God I personally want to worship and trust in. My God is alive, and I know I will eventually be united with the Trinity for eternity in the heavenly realm He has created with no evil present. Heaven will be like Him, holy and righteous immersed in perfect love, because He is love. There is Someone much bigger than ourselves.
It is true we must walk by faith, which isn’t so hard to do if you set your heart to know God.This is a choice you must make that doesn’t involve anyone, but you and Him. Others may encourage us and point us to where we need to go in the Word, but it has to be a personal encounter. I encourage you to settle for nothing less.
Jesus ripped the curtain into that separated us from God’s Presence. No longer is there a priest between us and God, the Father. Jesus enabled us to enter into the Holy of Holies! Look at the price the Father was willing to pay for us to come into His Presence. Let’s look at these powerful verses in Matthew 27:50-54 according to scripture:
"And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook, and the rocks were split. The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the Holy city and appeared to many. Now the centurion, and those who were with him keeping guard over Jesus, when they saw the earthquake and the things that were happening, became very frightened and said, "Truly this was the Son of God!"
Not only was Jesus resurrected, but tombs were opened that day and many saints who had died were raised, and they went into Jerusalem and appeared to many. There were eyewitnesses to this account also! The guards recognized the truth because of all they had witnessed, "Truly this was the Son of God." Yes, He is the Son of God and will always be throughout eternity.
But there is a third party to the Trinity, and that is the Holy Spirit. Jesus tells us in John 16:7-15 according to scripture:
But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me, and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me; and concerning judgement, because the ruler of this world has been judged.
I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on his own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak and He will disclose to you what is to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine, therefore, I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you."
Wow! Do we see how vital the Holy Spirit is in our lives? If you haven’t come to the knowledge of this truth now is the time! Jesus did not leave us as orphans when He left this earth. Yes, it was better that He fulfilled the will of God which freed us to come into the Presence of God. He then sent the Holy Spirit to come live inside of us! That means we are never alone if we belong to the Trinity. He is always a help in times of trouble. He is always there inside of us, for us to acknowledge and to call upon for truth, guidance, and comfort. He is also there to convict us of our sin that we might repent, and be forgiven and cleansed. He is to be our Teacher leading us into all truth. He will disclose the scriptures to you! I know this is true. He does that for me continuously, and He certainly will for you, if you allow Him to. That is the key!
So as you can see we have much to look forward to as we celebrate the Resurrection Day in our lives. I can’t think of a better way to do that than searching the scriptures for what it is all about as a family. This means moms and dads are going to have to do so first to lead their children in the truth according to the scriptures. Don’t allow yourself and your family to be robbed of the truth of the greatest day in the history of our world. There is no story greater in history than His story! No longer remain ignorant, and allow you and your children to be lied to, and be robbed of this great gift from above. Learn the truth according to the scriptures allowing the Holy Spirit to disclose the hidden mysteries to you and your family that the Father so wants to reveal to His children. One family at a time can change the course of our nation by obeying these instructions.
