2 Corinthians 3:5-6
"Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God, who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter but the spirit, for the letter kills, but the spirit gives life."

We celebrated our Fourth Annual Matthews State Forest Trail Run yesterday, and what a blessed event! Adversity of high winds and embraced light snow produced the finest group of people! Whether you were a runner or volunteer there seemed to be an awareness in all our adequacy truly was coming from Christ through that familiar Spirit. Thankful hearts were all around for seeing the goodness of God in the beauty of the day with unpredicted sunshine, and the fellowship we shared with each other. I never heard a single complaint from volunteers who braved the high winds and chilly temperatures to serve others. That is adequacy not in the natural, but of His sweet Spirit, and we all experienced spoken and unspoken recognition of that. All the runners were true purist, and expressed such gratitude for the run itself and the experience. They too were grateful for our amazing volunteers who always go above and beyond.
Most of all as a director and runner, I recognized a successful race is not defined by numbers, but by results, or adequacies produced by a power far greater than ourselves, the Spirit of Christ. He gives us eyes and hearts to see beyond the external and into the eternal. We all left the event overflowing with grateful hearts. I personally relished in the goodness and faithfulness of God for strength and endurance He continues to supply, and for the incredible people He surrounded me with on this day producing life as only His Spirit provides! What a good, good, Father!
In His love.
