Now, therefore, fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and truth; and put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the river and in Egypt, and serve the Lord." Joshua 24:14

As I was praying and reading the Word this week it occurred to me there are two trinities. There is the Holy Trinity — God, the Father, Jesus, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Then we have sin, satan, and self. Every human alive has to choose one or the other. We all become slaves to one of the two by our free will and the moment by moment choices we make on a daily basis. What doesn’t exist is a neutral ground. Reality is you fall into one of the two categories.

When man foolishly creates his own gods, as we see over and over in the Bible, it never changes the truth. There is only one true God. It is the God of Creation. He is the only God whose life is eternal. All other gods self proclaimed and created by man dies a physical death and is no more as history reveals.

If you read the 24th chapter in Joshua, the Israelites, God’s chosen people, are being confronted with the decision to decide which God they are going to serve. God reminds them of all He has done for them, and how His faithful love has brought them through to receive the land He is giving to them as a nation. He reminds them it was Him who gave them their victories in the battles they fought. It wasn’t their own efforts.

The same is true in our great nation. God alone is the reason America has been different from any other nation other than Israel. He taught us how to govern ourselves as a nation by allowing His God ordained laws to govern our lives as individuals. Our Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Declaration of Independence was written for a people who made the choice as individuals first and then as a nation to serve the Lord God Almighty. That is the foundation America was built upon. We are faced with the same decision the Isaralites were confronted with today. Joshua 24:15 states:

If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves "today" whom you will serve…but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord."

In order to keep the Republic God gave us as Americans, which are a people accountable to God, "today" we must make this same decision. My heart’s cry to you today as individuals is to choose the Holy Trinity. His thoughts and His ways are perfected, righteous and holy. If we choose to serve our man made gods we will never get beyond our own limitations and depravity. May we get our eyes off of national news and focus on our own lives and families. Revival has to happen one person at a time by making the decision to truly surrender our lives to the One true God — one family at a time looking within our own homes. Aligning our lives with the laws of God produces blessings. Disobedience and going our own way, or choosing the evil trinity, brings curses upon us. Read Dueteronomy 28!

God’s arms are always outstretched for those who want to return home to Him. Cleansing and forgiveness is always available to a broken and contrite spirit. (Psalm 51:16-17) Enter into a personal revival with God Himself. No one can do it for you. We each must choose, but know this — what you choose will not only impact your life, but will decide the fate of your family and our nation. May we all resolve from the depths our being:

"As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!"

In His love.

I took my broken and contrite spirit on a solo run up to Fisher’s Peak this week for a time of refreshment, surrounded by the goodness of God. Even though it was a warm, crystal clear sunny day, I still enjoyed the snow and ice on top!
