"This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me, I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day."
John 6:39-40

What a blessed hope we are offered by hearing the words of Jesus. I am so comforted when I stop all the noise and voices speaking in His name, and just listen to Him speak in His Word. I cannot encourage you enough to do the same! Let’s look closely at these two verses in John. Jesus is speaking to His disciples as He reveals the will of the Father. The will of the Father is that all He has given to Jesus will not be lost, but that Jesus Himself will raise His disciples on the last day.

As we look at the next verse we find the condition for the promise: Everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him. You must behold Him before you can believe in Him. We must surrender our full attention and survey the life, crucifixion, the resurrection and the glorified Christ in Revelation. After beholding Him, you must decide if you believe. It is a choice each of us are faced with in life that will determine our eternity.

Let us look at the heart of God the Father as Jesus reveals His will for us. He entrusted us to His Son to care for us in every way, including Him taking our place on the cross we deserved. His Son was holy and sinless. He loved us that much. Jesus loved the Father and embraced His love for mankind. Let’s look at Jesus’ words in John 17:6-7 as He is praying to the Father:

"I have manifested Your name to the men whom You gave Me out of the world, they have kept Your Word. Now they have come to know that everything You have given Me is from You."

Jesus goes on to say that while He was with them He was keeping them in the Fathers’s name. He says he guarded them and not one of them perished, except for Judas that the scripture might be fulfilled. Please take a moment to read John 17 as the heart of Christ is revealed for us, His bondservants.

Bondservants are freed, but make a choice to serve their Master out of love. It isn’t forced. If we read John 17 and allow the Holy Spirit to lead, guide and reveal the love of God the Father and His Son we cannot help but want to give back to the God who gave His all for us and His Son. Jesus chose to be a bondservant to the Father. He was an only Son, His most precious possession, who chose to express that love by becoming the sacrificial Lamb for all of mankind. That is how much we were loved by the Father and the Son. Only the Holy Spirit can reveal the truth of God’s love I am trying to get you to understand. Read His words in John 17, and allow Him to speak it directly to you, as He has me. His love is all inclusive. He has no favorites. It is not His will any should perish.
2 Peter 3:8-10 declares:

"The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."

Again, please go to these scriptures in your Bible and read them. Know the truth for yourself! Jesus prays in John 17:17:

"Sanctify them in the truth; Your Word is truth."

Not only are we sanctified by reading and meditating on the Word of God, but the truth can free us from lies. Without truth you cannot recognize a lie. There is no man’s opinion validated like the Word of the God who created us. How preposterous it is when man thinks he can be God, and does what is right in His own eyes. He is the Potter; we are only clay. Place yourself in the hands of our loving Father and Son to be loved and cared for not only in this world, but more importantly the world to come throughout eternity. Hear Jesus speaking directly to you this morning.

When the disciples asked Jesus earlier in this chapter what they must do to do the works of God He answered them:

"This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent."

What a simple, profound answer! You will have to meditate on this response, and allow the Holy Spirit to give you understanding and wisdom pertaining to your obedience for this one simple command. We will close with this comforting truth from God’s Word we started with:

"For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day."

Only believe!

In His love.
