"Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body."
1 Corinthians 6:19-20

What is your answer to the question Paul asked the Corinthian Church? Do we truly understand and realize our bodies are a masterpiece created by God? If you are a follower of Christ your body has become a temple of the Holy Spirit. We are one with the Holy Spirit as a man and woman become one flesh within marriage. We were purchased at the highest price ever paid for anything in the history of creation. Just allow this truth to sink in.

I never really gave a lot of thought to my health, or my body before making Christ my Lord. But when I read these scriptures and began to understand how God views His children I became highly motivated to care for my body. I cleaned up my diet and began a physically active life. It became a form of worship unto my Creator that has continued for the past 41 years. When I run, it is with a heart of gratitude for being fearfully and wonderfully made as the Psalmist declares in Psalm 139:14.

1 Corinthians 6:12 states:

"All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me but I will not be mastered by anything."

Defilement of our temple is a result of sin. Sexual immorality, gluttony, addictions etc. It is when we take what is lawful to the extreme, and it is no longer profitable but destructive. May we pause and give thought to the sacredness of our bodies as followers of Christ. Let us consider the great price that was paid for our bodies to become temples of Holy Spirit. May the result be obedience to Paul’s command:
"Therefore glorify Christ in your body."
In His love.

Heat and humidity forces me out to begin a long distance run just before daylight. I found it to be quite rewarding in the stillness with the full moon reflecting peacefully on New River in Fries, Va!
