"Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble; He delivered them out of their distresses and He led them also in a straight way…" Psalms 107:6-7

Rebellious children of God turning away from Him and going their own way is a pattern we see throughout the Bible in Old Testament and New. What we also see is God always revealing His lovingkindness is everlasting, and Him redeeming His own from the hand of the adversary.

If you will read Psalm 107 in its entirety you will see multiple examples with varying circumstances. But one emphatic truth screams from the pages — the goodness and faithfulness of God! He has proved this over and over throughout the Word of God. The ultimate example was offering His only Son for our redemption. He gave His all for us —the best He had, so I ask you doesn’t He alone deserve our best?

Who are you crying out to in your distresses? I can tell you who I cry out to, and I can proclaim the truth and fulfillment of the promises given to us in His Word. I go through the trials of this life like everyone else, but I am never alone in the valleys. I don’t always get what I want, but as I try to stay surrendered to His will as opposed to mine, I am always caused to triumph through Christ Jesus. We can trust in the character of God and His love for us. It is the only true anchor during the storms of life.

Psalm 107:15 says:

"Let them give thanks to the Lord for His lovingkindness, and for His wonders to the sons of man."

May we magnify the great God of the universe who created you and me. You choose what you magnify in your life. Are you allowing the temporary circumstances of this world to be magnified over the eternal greatness of the God you can belong to and call Father through His Son? It always comes down to one basic truth. Your life is created from moment by moment choices only you can make. We all were given a free will by the God who created us. You will always suffer void and discontentment til you choose Him and His ways. The alternative is being tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine throughout your temporal life on this earth, and spending eternity in Hell.

Ephesians 4:14-15 states:

"As a result we are to be no longer children, tossed to and fro by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming, but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ."

May we give great long term thought to our moment by moment choices that define how we will spend eternity.
In His love.

I greatly rejoice over His lovingkindness and His wonders He has given to me as I cool off in cold, refreshing waters during a hot July in our wonderful Blue Ridge Mountains!
