"The blood shall be a sign for you in the houses where you live; and when I see the blood I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt." Exodus 12:13
The Passover in the Bible served as a beautiful illustration of the redemption Christ accomplished on the cross at Calvary. The Old Testament is before the cross. We live after the cross with all the promised victories described in Isaiah 53. Yet, Jesus didn’t come to abolish the Law, but to fulfill it. The Israelites received this instruction in verse 14:
"Now this day will be a memorial to you, and you shall celebrate it as a feast to the Lord; throughout your generations you are to celebrate it as a permanent ordinance."
Most professing Christians today were not born Jewish, but we became adopted Jews through the blood of Jesus Christ. And if that wasn’t enough, God also allowed us to become joint heirs with His Son, Jesus. (Romans 8:16-17) What amazing, indescribable love of God for His ever rebelling, unfaithful children!
I want to share these truths of the Bible in reference to Covid-19. The world which represents Egypt is basically humanism, where man is his own god and his faith is placed in his own limited knowledge and understanding. This occurs because we want to call the shots and be our own boss. Throughout secular history and Biblical history it never turns out well, and left to ourselves it ends up in failure and destruction, because we will bite and devour one another until the last man is standing. Tyranny is human nature apart from God who is love. He teaches us to love one another and exalt the other person. If we follow His rules society thrives. Do your own research.
Jesus gave us victory over sickness and death. We are appointed only once to die and it truly, for the ones covered in the blood of Jesus, is moving day. We are moved from this life on earth into our eternal home with our God and Savior where we belong. We go home to Daddy, Abba Father, and spend eternity in a home He has prepared called heaven. Obviously, the blood of Jesus that was shed is all powerful over anything else in existence.
May I challenge you to plead the blood of Jesus over your body, the temple of the Holy Spirit. Eat the Bread of Life which is the Word of God, and teach it to your children that they might do the same, and teach truth to their children. God’s people are not to live as the world seeking the same gods man has created which ultimately is nothing more than himself; it never worked for the Israelites, and it won’t work for us.
We have to believe, trust, and wait upon our God. He is always faithful and true to His promises. In Exodus 32 we see where God didn’t do what the people wanted according to their timeline, so they resorted to throwing in all their gold and created a golden calf to worship. How ridiculous! If they created it — it was no greater than their futile minds. There is no way we can create the divine. We are a creation of the Creator. We can’t produce what we aren’t. It is a natural law. Rabbits produce rabbits. Trees produce trees. Humans produce humans. However, when the Spirit of the Living God is inside of you, you can produce divine wisdom and knowledge that only comes from the one true God. If we put our trust in Him and live according to His Word we are safe eternally. I trust Him with my life — with or with Covid-19. I am safe either way.
Perhaps someone can hear today what a loving Father is trying to tell His children. Rid yourself of the golden calves in your life, and trust in the blood of the Son of God. It was all for you, so that He might become your all in all. (1 Corinthians 15:28 Ephesians 1:23)
