"The Lord will be a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. And those who know Your name will put their trust in You. For You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You." Psalm 9:9-10
A stronghold is defined as a place secured tightly in case of attack; a defensive structure. Throughout the Bible God promises to be a stronghold for those who seek help from Him rather than the world. We are living in times of trouble, so I ask you, who or what is your stronghold during this time? Our scripture tells us those who know the One true God will put their trust in Him. What are you truly trusting in? He also promises not to forsake those who seek Him. What are you honestly seeking for help?
I thank God for a President who turned our nation back to God Almighty by declaring a National Day of Prayer, March 15th. Once again America became the city on a hill this nation was created to be. (Matthew 5:14-16) Our great nation was allowed once again to be a beacon glorifying the Light of the World to the rest of the world sinking in despair.
In Isaiah 30:15 God says to His people:
"In repentance and rest you will be saved, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you were not willing."
Let us learn from the Israelite’s mistakes for turning to Egypt rather than their One true God. (Isaiah chapters 30-31) Repentance brings rest to all people, and it has saved the nation of Israel over and over throughout history. The Lord in His mercy has quieted His people to turn their hearts to Him, and gain strength by trusting in Him. Let it not be said of us, "but you were not willing."
The requirements for blessings from God are well stated in a familiar verse in 2 Chronicles 7:14:
"…and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
Before our nation can receive the blessings promised we must obey the Word of God individually – one family at a time. Families make up our society. Lets join our President in heeding the Words of God, and return to our foundational values, and help make the God of America great again in our hearts and lives. Only then, will America be truly great again.
